Thank you! the excess fuel is diverted to the return line by the FPR! of course.

Hi all,
An update on the td5. I replaced the injector washers and o-rings today to good effect.
I picked up the required bits during the week.

I still wonder what special magical qualities LR put into a copper washer and little bit of rubber that make it cost so much.
Anyway, I cleaned out the seats in the head really well and replaced the old bits with the new bits, put it all back together and set the rocker clearances. Then I hooked up the series three to make sure that the battery had lots power for bleeding it up and after a couple of bleed cycles it fired up and stayed running!

Thanks so much to workingonit and Blknight.aus for their input. Much appreciated!
Next step is to get it into the shed and give it a good service and have a look for what else needs fixing on it.
No doubt there will be more questions down the track.
Good drills,
I know a guy, good mechanic on the td5's. It wouldn't take much of an arm bend to get him to drag his other half out out your way for a weekend to give you a hand and have an explore around the area.
drop me a PM if you'd like I'll give you his number
