turbo timer

Just bought a turbo timer from arb, expensive considering its a boggards!

Anyway the instructions are great, it looks easy, but i pulled my dash apart, (such a big mechano set, i love it), and on the back of the egnition drum, mechanisum there are four wires coming off it. They are;

Green cap.-Orange and white wire. Clear cap.-White wire.

Red cap.-Red and white wire. Black cap.- Brown and white wire.

Could some one please help me to identify which wire is for what...
Off, Accessories, On, or Start...
Am I missing something out here, or not seeing something that is written, somewhere????

Cheers Geck

you could use a test light where the wires meet the ignition switch and operate the ignition to work out what wires are what

(ect) acc on check which wires light up and so on

Why do you need a turbo timer?????

Just let it idle for 30 secs before shut down....

A turbo time alows your rig to run ehn you might not be in it...

If its a manual and it jumped into gear what would you do while its running or if the auto popped out of Park and grabbed reverse.......

Dont laugh... Ring AAMI it does happen.....

Not sure about other states, but I was told Turbo Timers are illegal and a defectable item in Sth Aust.

I don't let mine idle for 30 secs before switching off, but I try and stay off boost for a Km or so before I park to let things cool down a bit.

			Insurance with Turbo Timer

As an aside, I found some insurers unwilling to insure my Defender with a turbo timer - presumably for the reason that it is a risk having your vehicle going without anybody at the wheel. In the end I upgraded to another Defender without a timer - must say I prefer it.

In any case, if you are stuck getting insurance then Allianz don't class a turbo timer as a "modification" (they are also waaaay cheaper than most). It is just a fact that to some insurers such an accessory that it supposed to improve the life of your engine is also classed as an unacceptable risk.

I have always been under the impression that turbo timers are illegal as they allow the engine to run with the key out. Ie the steering locked. That could be embarrasing at the next corner you come to...
