    Landrover Rear axle specifications

    Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone has complied any information about Landrover axle specifications. I would like specs on rear axle half shafts e.g part numbers, lengths, splines, what vehicles etc. I need a LH 951mm long and a RH 658mm plus or minus a couple of mm. splined end or solid end.

    regards
    Geoff

    Series Landrovers:

Series 1 1948-1958 - semifloating, includes wheel mount flange and wheel bearing retained by pressed on sleeve, ten spline. Last year of production optional fully floating axle, ten splines both ends. This axle very rare, and almost unobtainable. Series 1 axles are shorter than late ones.

Series 2/2a 1958-72 - full floating ten splines both ends. These axles are readily available, but some are made of cheese. Six cylinder from 1967 Salisbury rear axle 24 spline both ends, this axle optional on 109, not on 88. Axles readily available, almost never needed.

Series 3 - same as 2a, but Salisbury standard on 109. Late 88, changed to 24 spline outer, ten spline inner.

Landrover 90/110, Defender - Same as Series 3 except they are longer. Late (2007?) replaced salisbury axle on 110 with P38A, different axles (I think) but still 24 spline both ends.

Note: This does not include Rangerovers. If I have anything wrong, someone will correct me.
