Defender TD5 Converting Wheel Bearings to run on Oil

    Hi,

I want to convert wheel bearings to be lubricated by oil on defender TD5.
Initial thought is to lubricate diff and wheel bearing with same oil (as one compartment).

Do I understand correctly, that in order to achieve that I need to remove this seal FTC5268

But what about the seal 571718 ? Does it leave original or must be removed?

There are a few threads on this. This one no longer has pics: Converting front hub wheel bearings to oil lubrication

Use the Google search at the bottom of this page and type in "wheel bearings oil" - you'll get lots of hits.

Do I understand correctly that in order to use diff and swiwel hosing as one compartment, both these seals should be removed?
All topics I found was about converting them as separate compartments.

It's that long since I did mine, I can't remember exactly what I did. (Mine was on a Discovery 1 but they are much the same.)

Have a look through the section of the forum called The Good Oil. There will be threads about it in there.
