Looks like the swivel to me. could be due to worn seal, loose swivel preload, or blocked breather.

Having recently acquired a Disco 1 I’ve noted that one of the swivels is leaking as per attached picture. The swivels were attended to about 5 years ago (30,000k) so it could be that again or could it be the seal at the back of the hub bearings?

Mine starting leaking recently too. A wobble of the wheel revealed a very slight amount of play in the swivel housings. I adjusted the preload by removing one thin shim per side and i have no more play or oil leaks.

Swivel doesn't look shiny and smooth. Looks opaque and rough. Should be shiny bright smooth chrome..
Given there's signs of light blue silicone on all the nearby joints/flanges, some sort of overhaul/maintenance/repair has clearly been carried out, as alluded too.
Am therefore wondering if the swivels have been replaced with cheapies?
I'd drain what's left of the oil and put the 'new' grease in them....

Thanks guys, I do have the wobble over bumps at speed and the pan hard rod bushes are ok so sounds like i could try adjusting the swivel(s) particularly on that side. Can I do this leaving the hub on the vehicle just disconnecting the two ball joints and undoing the top king pin and removing a shim or two?
Wobble over bumps, was related do a stuffed steering damper in my case, on my D1, and my 89 rangie.
(I should fire that up one day, anywho)

It usually doesn't help in the long term to increase the preload on the swivels as the bearings "brinnel"
That is they become corregated with the main wear at straight ahead, so they may seem tight off centre but are loose at straight ahead.
The only remedy is new swivel bearings.
