Performance ignitions in Norcal Road ?? Nunawading Vic do change over units with better quality rubber diaphragm. Been Years since I used them but were around $60 change over they do mail order also.
The fuel economy on the MY98 Discovery 1 3.9L V8i has blown out to 19.6L/100km (from a regularly achievable 16L/100km). Went back through my old thread when it was last bad < 98 D1 V8 bad fuel economy - 43.2L per 100km - vacuum advance? > and redid some of the tests which has confirmed that the vacuum advance unit (RTC3201 VACUUM ADVANCE UNIT 2 PIN DISTRIBUTOR 3.5/3.9 EFI) has failed. It was replaced with a brand new unit from Powerspark in the UK in late February 2018.
From what I've read these are regular items to fail as the crimping of the two halves of the housing is rough and cuts the rubber diaphragm. Is there a particular brand that is better built and more reliable? Or a source for a replacement diaphragm to enable opening it up, cleaning up the dodgy edges and recrimping?
