Thread: branched radiator hose - Disco 200tdi

    This seems like a crazy design (hard to believe for LR I know) to me - the hose between the coolant reservoir and bottom of the radiator is branched and just relies on rubber bonded to rubber. When I renewed the pressure in my coolant system (after replacing my coolant reservoir that had a slight leak around the seam), the next point of weakness started leaking - the branched rad hose. I'm thinking that rather than replacing this with another branched one, I should just cut the hose and insert a metal t-piece. Any ideas?

    BTW, I've been told that the coolant reservoir cap on this model is the same as a VN commodore - the latter presumably being cheaper...

    I've also bought a low water detector from Jaycar for $7 that I plan to place in the coolant reservoir as a cheap detector...

    be a bit of a problem....you must always use corrosion inhibitor in the cooling system.....





    and i also think that a few bits of correct diameter pipe and some hose clamps will take up a lot less space
    than a set of spare hoses on ones travels.....</span>

    You should have a look at the cooling system in a Td5, must be 20 different hoses with all sorts of branches and strange things hanging off them. Looks like spaghetti. I would hate to try to find a leak.

    I talked to a radiator shop in Canberra about this . They guessed &#036;100 to make up a mettle top radiator hose for the TD5 with only small rubber joiners at the ends. Havn&#39;t done anything about it yet but My plan was to slowly replace all the hoses with metal pipes.

    The 300tdi has a branched hose as well. Replacement around$120, local aftermarket here in Cairns was $75. For a rad hose ridiculous, the T piece sounds like a good idea!
