Rick130 you do know your shocks. Just to add to what you have stated, People look under any serious race vehicle and you will find monotube design shocks. Twin tube are economically produced to a price generally speaking.

Yes bilstien can revalve shocks to suit your needs and are rebuildable. EFS are a good replacement twin tube shock.

Not so fast Glen, although I did say at the end that the vast majority of specialist off-road race shocks are mono-tube.

In road racing it has come full circle.

The venerable Koni 8211 (aluminum body) and 8212 (steel body) twin tube double (external) adjustable dampers introduced in the mid-late sixties and used till the mid eighties in F1 are still in production and still used on a lot of comp vehicles. The rear end of the Penrite GTP Lamborghini, at least two seasons ago was using these.

The absolute state of the art Ohlins TT44, available in double, triple and quadruple adjustable versions and used in most open wheelers and a lot of tin tops worldwide, including Champ cars, IRL, GP2 and I think at least one F1 team are a twin tube with a 44mm piston (hence TT44)

Sachs of Germany's top end road race line are all twin tubes, to the best of my knowledge. Sachs have supplied the Ferrari F1 team for a lot of seasons now, as well as a few LMS teams. These are also available up to quadruple adjustable.

    true, and expensive

8 years ago triple adjustable TT44's were around $2500 each. Have no idea what they're worth now.
