How did it deal with remnant paint? Did it penetrate under the paint or did the paint shield the metal underneath?

Bicarb is easier to find too, and so cheap its almost free, any Pool shop or Bunnings.

After the electrolysis bath any loose or flaky paint that had pre existing corrosion underneath comes off with the pressure washer. Or a good scrub with steel wool and hose down would do the same.

Good idea to have some acidic hand wash to clean up after , eg, cirtic hand wash to neutralise the alkaline otherwise you hands will dry out . I had to steal some of Vals moisturiser.
