Cooling system over heat technical issue

    Good day,

Ive owner Disco 2 / 3 & now 4. Should have stayed with the 3. But anyway different story.

So i got this Disco 4 that keeps over heating :"@#$!. Looks like when i bought it, the last owner thought the over heat might have been head gasket. I say this because it looks like the cooling system has residue of fiber lock style gasket fixer. In my opinion this is like dumping dirt in the cooling system. Has no common gasket examples - such as exhaust/ no milky residue in oil cap/ not burning oil etc. Did test and was blue on the contaminate in coolant. So anyway im left which this after effects.

So when i took out thermostat was blocked with the ****. Replaced thermostat but still overheats. Drove it without thermostat to running temperature and was threatening to over heat at 110 degrees so turned it off (operating temp should be 90 ish) . Never seen a car over heat without thermostat? Heater not as how as it should be. Although hard to tell because was 30 degrees here and heater max at 28 lol. But im pritty sure it wasnt hot enough. Ive flushed the cooling system 3 times now.

Any suggestions? Im thinking flush radiator to see if signs are partial to full blockage there?

After my brother's experience with his TDV8 RRS I would go straight to a new genuine radiator ex UK. May as well replace the belt idlers and anything else at all suspect while the radiator is out.

My brother couldn't find the culprit for his vehicle's overheating after even though water appeared to flush back through the removed radiator unrestricted but as a last resort fitted a new radiator which cured the problem. With you having found leak additive I expect that your radiator will be significantly blocked. IIRC his genuine radiator was around $800-$900 ex Duckworths UK and delivered in 4-5 days.

You could check the temperature down the radiator but only a useful test when the engine is overheating, which isn't going to be very practical except perhaps using a temperature sensing device.
