Thanks a lot for the info guys,

with regards to the throttle shaft, all is OK with minimal movement (in fact it was the first thing the mechanic checked). It has had two sets of points but I will replace the coil and leads to cover myself. The distributor cap and carbon bush (?) are fine and not really worn. There is also no problem with fuel delivery - everything including pump, filters, the glass bowl and gauze have been checked, renewed or cleaned with plenty of fuel pumping through.

I think I will give the mighty Zenith the flick and put on a Holden Stromberg or similar, is this a good idea? Also has anyone tried extracting the Landy 4cyl and fitting a mild exhaust system (2/2 1/4 ")?

Thanks again for the advice - Will

yep go the holden carby i put one on my shorty s111 and got a adjustable main jet , i got from autobarn about 40 bucks from memory all problems solved for me any way

these main jets are alittle fiddly to adjust but once done you should never have a problem again

I too fitted a stongberg to my series III 2.25 It was a lot better. I also fitted the ajustable main jet. The only thing I found was I also had to remove the intermediate jet and solder it up and drilled it out a smaller size. even though the main jet is adjustable you still need to do this to get a lean mixture.

S.O.S Series 111 not running right

    G'day Roverwill.
I run a set of extractors, into a 2 inch (50mm) pipe throught a Hotdog freeflo muffler (9 years old now ) Bellows like a bull I run a Zenith 36 IV carb (had it Recoed 6 years ago ) and if driven sanely will give 16-18 to the Gallon of standard unleaded mostly highway running, the Holden will starve in offroad conditions as the bowl is to small.
Use the early FE,FC, FB,EK,EJ, EH, type with the smaller venturi and smaller main jets if going Holden.
