300Tdi Rocker Cover gasket - which way?

    Hi all

I've been chasing an oil leak from the back of the rocker cover. Replaced the gasket but still weeping.

I notice that the gasket is slightly tapered with one side being flat (with ribs) and the other being slightly rounded.

Which side goes against the cylinder head and which side tucks into the rocker cover groove?

I've only been tightening up the three bolts very gently as I understand the torque setting on these is only 7-8 ft/pds

    Cheers

The rib side goes into the actual rocker cover. The smooth slightly tapered side against the head

    Thanks Justin

I did have it that way around, but was still leaking. Will try a fresh gasket and see how it goes.
