Sadness of a down and out Landy

I just collected my 3.9 of the Hoist this arvo.

Sadly I could not do the breaks as one of my break pipes was not coming of. So had to track down an imperial replacment. That sadly is not all.

My Alternator has packed in - so I am considering what to do there. Near buckly of tracking down a new one, so I am sending it of to an Alternator wholesaler manufacturer here in Adelaide. A mechy I know assures me that this guy can work magic with difficult Alternators, and probally wind them up as well for higher output.

I will update all as to the outcome for other 3.9 owners. The early 3.9's appear to have a different footing to the later 3.9's as per the Army.

The A-frame Ball Joint is shot, "clunk clunk" so I have to do that. Does it stop there. NO! I need to put in new front hub kits.

    Oh Joy, Rapture.

Keen to hear about what other 3.9 Owners have done regarding their Alternators. Particuarly 85' era owners.

Further, considering an "ARB" Magnum 9k Elec Winch. Not a regular go look for trouble sort of guy, but my old hand Tirfor winch has had its day. Can anyone provide feedback on this winch?

Whilst I am there, I am going to have a Safari Snorkel fitted.

Open to any feedback, particuarly regarding Winch and Alternator.

    Regards,

    Mr_Sav

    Gday Mr Sav

Mine needs a new alternator too was told the old one was not worth rebuilding as too small to increase output. Have a look here

I have a pto winch so cannot help you there.
I bought a second hand defender snorkel (Safari) from a wrecker for $100 all the hoses and brackets fitted perfectly to standard county aircleaner with no adjustment. Make sure you get the one that goes on the drivers side.

Good Luck, let us know if you find a cheap alternator

The Hitachi 70amp are common and cheap, however they suit later County's about 87 on. The Army can take these, however the 85 has a different foot mount. Bugger.

I will keep posted as to how it goes.

Hope you are not a Carlton Supporter. - I suspect not being in Brisy Go the Crows!

Don't know about the ARB Winches but I have a Warn 12,000lb Winch and it works a treat for recoveries, pulling trees down and dragging things about the place.
