Hello All,
I was missing a photograph - the other side profile of the Holley.
I remember that one of the first things the local lads in the 1979-80s would do was remove whatever carburettor was on their newly acquired vehicle. Then they would stick a Holley on it. Then a set of wide mag tyres and a chrome exhaust system.

Bloody choke was wrong in some way as it became a bad runner while warming up.

Hello All,
I just sent the photographs and codes to Hume Performance - who have always been very helpful. The carburettor has been identified as a 350 CFM Holley. Now I just have to look up about the carburettor and see if there are any manuals out there!

had a 302 for years
i wouldn't discount spark out of the equation...
does it have the right type of coil fitted ?

Do you mean the no-name brand coil that had lots of spark leads laying on top of it? The one I could slide out with my fingers and had really excellent wiring attached to it?
I used to be a TA an electronics shop - I do expect a bit from wiring jobs. Sigh
Another in-built criteria I must have is to buy vehicles with rat's nests for wiring looms and hand fulls of cut-off unlabelled wires. Yes I must be expecting too much.
Oh - is the "right" capacity coil.. ? Yes the words "Bosch" and "Germany" written on the coil would have been good to see.
Why do I do this to myself?

Hello All,
I just checked online and brand new Holley 350 CFM 74481 carburettors are for sale on Amazon. Just $200 Australian dollars dearer than the professionally rebuilt ones available from Sydney. Of course not a single US company ships to Australia. Hmmm - lucky I know one or two Americans.
I am very surprised that they are still made because they seem like a relic from the 1970s and 1980s.
I will watch some more youTube clips and track down some rebuild publications before falling back on any type of new carburettor.

The 350 is easy to overhaul, no doubt it is in need of a power valve or throttle pump, and some emulsion block cleaning/ new gaskets.
Also, is the timing retarded by any chance??
