    I doubt it.
Nup, would need a different oil pump arrangement. Wade camshafts in Melbourne would be able to make a camshaft for it, if they are still there. Custom EFI and ignition system is do-able. Gears to replace the timing chain as you would be running the tight side against the tensioner. Starter motor would be a challenge. A good project to do with someone else's money.

And i'm sure i have read that SBC's have been converted to reverse rotation for speed boat use.

Why go to all that hassle for something that will probably be overpowered for the existing gearbox/diff. Just swap out the whole lot.

Nah,easy as ,just change the polarity and it will go the other way.

I was thinking more of the pinion throwout. Don't recall exactly how those ones work, are they on a helical shaft for engagement?

    Thanks guys,

interesting. I was thinking, cam, oil pump, waterpump is easy (they seem to be opposite directions Vbelt versus serpentine). starter you could rewire, but wouldn't work if the throwout bearing was splined directionally. alternator can spin either way so isn't an issue.

The car has a gearbox infront of the motor.... with huge inboard discs mounted to it.

The driveline is pretty much bullet proof. They used to use the gearboxs from these cars and put them in dragsters .... and they never blew up... The driveshafts and everything is phenomenally strong as all the braking forces are transmitted through them. The massive inboard disc brakes would apply far greater forces to the driveline that an old rover v8 could There has been next to none of these cars ever build re-powered (evne though though could easily do with twice the power) due to the complexities of the task. I do have a rusty parts car sitting under a tree... I just need to drag it out and see if its crank is any good. I'm guessing reversing the direction of the rover v8 will be a very expensive excercise (sadly. It probaby weighs half that of the original motor .... and would have 3 times the power!).

Would be an interesting project Shane, but yes would eat some dollars I would expect. Maybe a project for when the kids leave home - I seem to be able to afford a few nicer things since that’s happened to me. Rover V8 direction of rotation

    rover v8

Bit of lateral thinking, turn the diff around to give forward direction.

    Rover reverse direction

Marine mechanic .. common exercise for twin powered boats .. not sure what's involved .. if it can be done to Ford V8's I can't see why it would not be possible for Rover engine.

    Wink

The simplest way to fix a majority of your problems is make the cam gear drive instead of chain drive. This will reverse the direction the cam spins so when the crank is rotating CCW the cam spins CW. I am not that familiar with the rover v8 but if the oil pump is driven from the cam this will fix that issue too.
All you should need to do then is get the starter to run the other direction. I would look at some of the Tilton starter motors for this as they design some to be mounted behind the bellhousing so will spin the other direction. Then just a mater of adapting everything.
