    300Tdi rod cap orientation

    Hey folks,
I have a set of conrods for a 300Tdi that have been sitting in the shed for a long time - the caps were not on the rods and i can't be 100% sure which way around the caps went. I know which cap came from which rod but not which side of the camp should face the cylinder number stamped on the rod.
Is there a way to tell which way the caps went on the rods? I have seen some 300Tdi rod caps stamped with the cylinder number and you can just line that side up with the stamp in the actual rod - but these caps are unstamped...
    Any thoughts?

you'll work that out when you put the bearings in and do the nip checks

reverse that... you'll work it out when you do the nip checks then put the bearings in....
