DII Gear Knob

Hi

Does anybody have an idea how to remove the gear knob from a DII 2002 V8 Auto. I want to repair/replace the scatched wood (like) surround.

Move gear lever to Neutral

Squeeze button and PULL straight UP.

Be careful not to smack yourself in the Gob

Trust me, It hurts

I have tried most things - maybe I'll have to pull just a bit harder.

Don't twist it, just pull it up. May take a little effort, but if you twist it like I did, you will break it
