YouTuber Mike has posted a video of a head with cracks where I've never seen them. Nasty.

Thanks for posting this!
I've just had pretty much exactly the same issue with a ported 300 Tdi head - without the forum linking to Mikes videos, I'd still be wondering why I can't find the leak!
My motor runs an Alisport intercooler and a VNT. and the head didn't crack due to coolant loss, but through towing a car up a big hill.
Mine has cracked across number 3 & 4 inlet ports, and didn't indicate any overheating at the time - I run a Madman EMS with a sensor on the stat cap, but no alarm was triggered.
Whether two identical failures qualifies as a pattern fault or not I don't know, but I'll be following Mike's advice and fitting a cheaper head. In this case I'm planning to fit a Britpart head.
While I've had issues with some of their stuff in the past, I haven't seen any negative posts regarding their heads, so any insights would be welcome.
Cheers,
Andy
Mike's a good resource. He's been around the block more than once with pre TD5 stuff. Plus, he's actually entertaining as well. My favourite youtuber.
Edit: he actually replies to emails as well, although I don't know how long he will be able to do so with people ( like me ) plugging his channel.
