    can someone clarify what are the vehicle registration options available to club members and associated costs

    Which club ?, this isn't a club that you can register your vehicle with for limited reg.

    Yes, and the club permit thing varies markedly, State to State.

    Here in Vic, the Red Plate Club is the go to, unless you have membership to a registered club. In NSW it could be entirely different.

    Also, here in Vic, it is not Registration, it is a permit, and carries a few provisos. Probably similar wherever you are.

    This is the basic conditions:
    Apply for a historic vehicle registration | Service NSW

    NSW also allows 60 days use via a log book
    Vehicle log books - Historic vehicles - How to register a vehicle - Vehicle registration - Roads - Roads and Maritime Services



    There is a link to a PDF of the clubs participating in the scheme in the second page and the best person to ask for more detail would be the registrar of your chosen club. It seems that you need to first register your historic vehicle and you can then participate in the log book program.

    There is also scope to register historic modified vehicles under conditional registration in the way that HOT Rods are registered but I don't know much about this except that it is possible.
