    300tdi crank case locking tool

We are changing the oil pump and need a crank case locking tool. Does anyone in Brisbane have one I can borrow, or any tips on making one?

    Flywheel locking tool?

IIRC the slot in the FW is 5mm, and the bellhousing plug thread is something like 1/4" BSP I think.
    Checked, yep, it's 19TPI
I drilled and tapped a brass BSP plug internally to 6mm, and turned the end of an HT bolt (actually a SHCS) to 5mm and just screw the cap screw up into the slot. Bingo. Locked.

Edit. Apparently an R380 reverse switch will work! Never tried it personally, but if you have one spare....

Good luck with that. Beg, borrow or steal a Milwaukee Fuel 3/4" rattler. Get it off lickety split.

the timing pin tool holds the flywheel well enough but I normally just put it in 5 hi cdl and have someone stand on the brakes while I have at it with a 3/4 breaker bar and pipe; torque multiplying.

You're younger and stronger than me. I did that; I wedged the breaker against the rail and hit the starter; I used one of those weird impact tools that you hit with FBH; I used a 3/4 air impact. That bolt is the reason I own a Milwaukee Fuel 3/4 rattler.....

Undid it in seconds.. thankfully, as 'er indoors was outraged at the price of the thing..., but appreciated the cessation of blaspheming.

Thanks Dave. Tried that (without torque multiplier) but clutch must be slipping as crank is still turning.

SCA rattler is NOT a Milwaukee Fuel 3/4" rattler, it's not even close. If you were in Melb I'd show you.

Thanks yes I know. But that’s what I have. I wish it was a Milwaukee.
