    D1 / D2 ZF auto gearbox T/C same?

    Gday All,

Does anyone know if the torque converter in the D1 ZF auto box is the same as the torque converter in the D2 auto box.

I have been told the D2 box is different but only because it’s electronic controlled but not sure how accurate that is.

I have a D1 ZF auto box and just wondering if the Torque converter is worth keeping for the FIL D2.

    Thanks and Cheers Bulletman

if you check the Ashcrofts site, they have various torque converters going according to gearbox serial number.

    SEE HERE.

I don't know what/why differences ... but it appears to be linked to the gap between drive plate flanges and bellhousing face as well as the various engines and trans they will be fitted too.

... in general people get their torque converters 'fixed' so matching parts isn't so much of an issue.

Basically, assume that they're going to be different, or get some serial numbers to confirm.

All these discos are giving me a heart attack!
