    Trailer brake dum/hub removal.

One of the brakes on my trailer has stuck on, so I can't get the drum/hub off.
There is no residual pressure in the line, I assume the wheel cylinder has seized.
I can move the drum slightly, but I can feel the shoes 'cooking and jamming tight.
    Any ideas?
Cutting the front off the drum with the angle grinder is my next step.

Have removed drums in similar predicaments with a large 3 jaw puller but if you don’t have one, then an angle grinder would be my next choice.

If its dragging .... I'd take it for a drive and get it smoking hot ... then pull the bearing and nut, refit the wheel .... and use the wheel as a big puller against the drum to try and wiggle it off with

The backing plate wraps around the drum, so I can't get the puller on the drum, I would have to make something to bolts to the wheel studs.
The shoes also seem to be jamming with what little movement I can get.

    Trailer brake dum/hub removal.

Have you fully wound back in the drum brake adjuster?

everything expands when hot ... heat is used to try and free most things. It does depend on why its frozen though.

One is, the other is seized and soaking in penetrating oil.

    This worked.
Before the drive I was unable to turn the wheel by hand, and had to remove the rear wheel to get weight on the front one to get it to turn.
Curiously it was still only 'I can hold my hand on it hot', after 15km at up to 100km/h, but I was able turn wriggle, turn wriggle till the wheel and hub/drum came off.

    Thanks all for your input.
