    Freelander 2004 issues

Hi, just wondering if anyone else had any major problems with the 2004 model freelander transmission.
Have only had mine for 3 months and have to get the entire transmision replaced as it was leaking oil into the driveshaft.
Dealership have been really good about the whole thing with regular contact and trying to arrange a curtesy car but LRA customer service need to find a new name for themselves, really bad communication and telling me it is not guaranteed that a car will be provided whilst mine is being fixed.
That's enough of a rant for now, if anyone has had similar problems i would really be interested to hear about them.

LR have a 'black box' policy with some components. That is, they're not opened or repaired but instead replaced as a whole assembly then sent back to the factory for examination.

Do you have the Td4 or the last of the V6 engined Freelanders ?
There was an issue with the oil in the Jatco box not being compatible with the electronics inside but there's no real issue with oil leaks.

Are you sure it was the transmission that was replaced & not just the IRD ?

it's a td4 engine i thought the V6 was only in the petrol model, it is currently at the dealership being repaired as this only happened on Tues/Wed. The entire transmission is being replaced when land rover technicians approve the repair details in writing not just by phone.

There was still a few old stock V6s being sold in 2004 I believe.
We had a "new" Td4 delivered to us last week that was 2 yrs old already !!

It's unusual to replace the entrire transmission assembly so there must be a good reason for it.

    I'm lost now.......
    It's a 2004 or a 2006? Not that there's any real mechanical differences.

it's a 2004 model, last of stock before the launch later this year. Also i think it has TD4 on the back, but i'm not sure only had it for 3 months so i'm not really sure about all the tech specs
