are the discovery and defender 300tdi exhaust manifolds the same ?

i keep blowing exhaust manifold gaskets and am looking to replace the manifolds and maybe the turbo cartridge

and am not sure if they are the same ( i cannot look at my disco one as it is 3 hours from here ..)

    ....
    same part number .. ERR3785.

Do you have any idea why it keeps blowing?
Mine has blown once(up near the front exhaust port).
When removed it looked different to the replacement I got for it.

The one on there(no idea who and when it was installed) had a flat looking face.
The one I'd bought had a raised section of ports. A bit confusing at first, and with limited experience back then of 300 tdi details ... it made sense to install it with the raised sections facing the manifolds(not the head).

That was near on 100K klms ago. I assume it's still fine as it don't sound leaky.

EDIT: had a quick peek, and it seems the LR OE part(ERR3785) is supposedly a Victor Reinz manufactured part.
Found the VR catalog and they list their own part number for it as 71-35509-00 but also refer this part back to the LR part number too.

i have now blown 2 of those ones in 1000klms

i really have no idea why it is blowing at present

first one blew at the back, so replaced it with a vr you quoted above

    it blew at the front

so replaced with another vr and i have yet to disassemble to see where it is blown but it appears to be in the center, but cannot confirm

will pull it all apart next week when i get a chance

need to keep my distance from it at the moment as i am livid...
