    300tdi engine imobliser

Anyone fitted a simple engine imobliser to a diesel and what did you do or what kit did you buy as an anti theft device?

to shut down a diesel there is usually some sort of solenoid which blocks of the intake or exhaust side
of things on the engine......since you cant just shut off the spark....

all you need to do is fit a hidden switch to break this circuit so it wont get powered up.....
hence not allowing the engine to start.....its simply just a kill switch....

    Imobiliser

I got a quote from the RACT to supply and install a proximity immobiliser and they quoted me $285.

Best bit of this is I was ferreting round under the house a week or so back and found a complete Rhino alarm that I purchased for my GQ Patrol and never fitted.

I started last Saturday, have mounted the alarm on the back wall behind the centre seat and will finish it next Saturday, fitting the control module somewhere under the dasboard. I might even get all exited and fit the Microlec central locking solenoids n control module too but then again I might not too. It is only a defender after all.

    Cheers,

On the back of the fuel pump is the wiring for the solenoid, fit a switch into this wire and hide it in the dash somewhere. You could put a switch in one of the blanks to the left of the steering wheel.
Did like the idea of putting transfer in neutral.
The first thing I did when buying latest Disco was removing the rotten immobiliser that had been fitted in WA, hate the bloody things.
