Way out in left left field, but look under the veh at the front of the gearbox and see if you have dented the bottom cover for the torque converter. Also try listening with the dowl near the bellhousing/torque converter and see if the ticking is coming from there. Bob
We had a ticking inside a BA falcon, it turned out to be a dry leaf scraping against the round fan in the cabin air intake. When stationary we heard irt but when driving the other noises obscured it
If it's an auto, drop the inspection plate for the torque conv. and check that all the bolts holding the T/C to the flex plate are tight, also check for any cracks or movement in the flex plate, let us know what the problem is when you get it sorted, Regards Frank.
