Oil cooler lines leaking

I had them done on my Disco, too.

We cut off the old fittings and brazed on new barbed fittings with new hoses.

KLR Auto reckon they won't leak.

Sounds like the same ones KLR used on mine. I removed the lines, cut off the old fittings (one fitting has to be carefully removed as the pipe is a tad short if one just lops off the tail. I cleaned it all up, gave it to Brad at KLR, he brazed or silversoldered the barbed ends on (I don't have gas anymore - too exxy for bottles). I got the hose off KLR, pushed it on to the barbs and refitted it all.

Getting one of the screw fittings back into the oil filter housing was a pain so one of their mechanics did that (nimbler fingers!).

I must admit to being a bit leery of the lack of hose clamps on these hoses.

Yes, 20 years ago so was I. But I've used the push on Enzed couplings on heaps of different applications and never had one blow off or leak.

One of the things I like about using them is if you do have a hose failure, especially in the middle of nowhere, it's an easy job to replace the hose.

I intend to mod the power steering lines the same way.

I remember there was a post ages ago on a real easy fix and for some reason i believe ace may have started it. but then he would remember since he started this one.
Did a quick search and found one I put up in late 2004, leaking hose Q's, and i talked about seeing one 12 months earlier, which would make it 2003.
From what i remember it was about taking the lines of cutting the bits off that 'swage' ( the things they squeeze to stop the leaks) and replacing the lines with good hydraulic lines and putting it all back together with hose clamps, and it was done with a good result.

Anyway I agree the enzed way is probably the easiest, i have spoken to my local bloke who has done a heap of 300tdi oil line replacements. Now just need the time to take the lines out and take them into town.
