    TD5 Defender-New engine harness arrived

    Hey guys

My new TD5 engine harness arrived from the UK today (I have the oil contamination issue).

For anyone else with this issue I got the harness from Famous Four Products in the UK for $155 pound plus shipping as opposed to approx $1700.00 aussie dollars locally (I think the factory had to make one from scratch as the supplier had to wait 8 weeks for LR to get them one).

    The harness looks immaculate.

Has anyone got any hints / techniques for the most painless installation.
I can already feel the bark coming off my hands...

Are you replacing the injector harness too? That's where the problem starts from.

    Hey Scott

Yeah - I have already replaced the injector harness - somehow I think that was the easy part.

is that the one that runs down under the car over the gearbox and into the ecu under the drivers seat....?

if it is....pull out your floor plate under the centre console....you will be able to see what you are doing......

I ran heaps of contact cleaner and wd40 through my harness and did not have to replace. I did replace the injector harness though, but after a good look that could have been cleaned and reused as well. I sealed mine and new o rings and now have it as a spare.

    ECU cable oil contamination

    Guys,
I ahve a 2001 td5 130 dual cab. Have also the oil problem. My LR expert told me to replace the injector harness only as this is where the problem arises. The rest can stay as it will get no worse and if car is running OK ... then why fiddle when it ain't broke???
    Cheers
