I have got a listing of GL19 for the 4 cyl engine, just chasing the 6 cyl. What is yours?
6 cyl appears to be the same. Try them and see if they look right, I am just going by what our old parts book says.

You will have to do some more research than that.
I had a race car once and you could have the same looking points but with different part numbers. One set of points had a heavy duty spring which allowed it to rev to 8000 RPM cleanly
while the other had a weaker spring...most likely for longer life applications.
But it didn't stop the valve bounce
Cheers.

I want to see a Series III, either 2.25 or 2.6, at 8000 rpm

Personally I prefer to be nowhere in the vacinity of a 2.25 or 2.6 doing 8,000 rpm

I found it really hard to get a good set of points that lasted more than about 3,000km before starting to give me trouble. However every catalog I checked at auto shops had them listed. Sometimes under Leyland, sometimes under Land Rover and other times under Rover.
In the end I got a Pirahna Electronic Ignition module for about $200 which has proved to be very reliable. After getting stranded a couple of times, the $200 seemed a cheap alternative.
The SIII is a great leggo car. Enjoy.
Is yours a 4 or 6cyl?

Slow Coach
Thanks for the idea. The old girl 4 cyl petrol is up and panting. I put an electronic ignition in and goes like a ripper.
