We have had them rebuilt by the Repco balancing centre. Any tailshaft "expert" should be able to do it (plus a balance).

Having done my uni's a short time ago, I looked around for some other than LR parts - couldn't find too many references. According to Bearmach, the same uni is in Disco 1 and 2, PN TVC100010, a 75mm HD greasable. Also referred to as RTC3458. TR spares have a greasable uni @$35 each, under the RTC number. Supercrap have a listing for LR uni's but generally no stock, and here's the interesting bit- a non-greasable Ford fairlane uni shares the same part number as the LR one. I imagine that it is a standard 75mm uni - abeit non greasable.
I tried CBC, but they came up empty - but that may well be due to the DASOB who served me at the Bankstown store - Kingsgrove store staff are more likely to help.

Thanks Langy i was under the impression they were differant between the series 1 & 2, i may take up your offer after all, thanks for your help.

Try a bearing supply place - should have them. Last time I was looking for Landrover parts at SKF they had them listed by the Landrover part numbers.

Non greasable are generally stronger of the 2. Depends on how often you want to replace them.

Thanks everyone for your help, i managed to get a reconditioned one from Land Vehicle Spares for $330 exchange it had been chewed out and was unrepairable (well by me anyway), heaps better than $1300 from Land Rover, you can't buy the parts seperatly you have to buy the whole tail shaft and uni assembly in one![]()
The other thing i managed to find out is that most places here in Sydney that specialise in reconditioning uni joints want to charge between $500 to $800 to recon the Double cardan joint![]()

Even the generic brand was $670+greasable unis at $127 each![]()
