    Yellow passivate in Brisbane.

Hello from Sherwood and a quick question for the DIY electroplaters.

I’m setting up a home electroplating kit with an aim to zinc plating a number of parts off some old machinery that I’m rebuilding. For some of the exposed nuts and bolts I’m keen to add a yellow finish which is usually done by dipping the zinc plated part in a yellow chromate solution.

My search for a local supplier of the yellow passivate hasn’t been too successful so far. Does anyone else DIY plating know where to get such a product in Brisbane?

    Cheers

A friend of mine restored an MG about 12-13 years ago, used these people for some of his plating stuff.

Other wise I know there is (or used to be) a chap at Archerfield airport that did nickel plating, perhaps they could spare a bottle or so

    Hello again and thanks.

I’m aware of the Janes and Casswell kits and had thought of going through one or the other for the passivate. Problem is that their products are reasonably expensive for small lots and they are based interstate which adds a fair bit to the landed cost.

I was hoping to find something local in the first instance.

    Cheers,
