    Fuel pressure regulators

I know that fuel pressure regulators go (leak) quite often on the TD5 Diesel engine and the cause is O-ring seals.
I also know that diesel fuel in Australia changed a few years back and some of the aditives were removed. At the time it was said that vehicles produced before 93 I think might have problems with seals leaking because of the change in the fuel.
Could it be that the seals in td5 fpr's are the wrong type and suitable only for the old type diesel.

If so shouldnt Landrover RE-call them and replace them for free as there is a risk of fire with any leaking fuel even diesel. Especialy when its leaking over the starter motor.

Has there been any discussion on this in the past?

    landrovers international

Just looked on landrover owners International and it looks like they have as many problems with fuel pressure regs in pommania as we do here.

Never knew it was a problem. Might have to look to see if mine leaks or not.

    Fuel pressure regulator

    Mikecb

Have just returned from a Club trip to Woomera (S.A.) sooner than I thought, my fuel pressure regulator (2000 TD5) started to weep and before long drip, so I headed for home (500km) cost to get it replaced $425, plus one and a half hours fitting time, in Adelaide some 200 km away.

Not 100% sure, but I think the low sulpher fuel thing matched higher European fuel standards, so probably shouldn't be any different.

When it starts you will notice small 3inch puddle on floor of garage. Only leaks when you turn engine off.

I don't have a garage that the Fender fits into just dirt and gravel. You can see oil leaks but in winter with all the ice and frosts not likely to find anything else unless you see it dripping.

Ok run the engine for about 5 mins turn it off and stick your head under on the disco it drips down from the front of gearbox. At first thought I had blown rear main seal. grab some drips on your hand and have a sniff you cant mistake diesel.
