How did you fix the problem from Wilcannia?
For those who may be interested. Just completed 2900km outback (unfortunately trip was cut short due to fam probs, but that's another issue).
03 Fender TD5 ... bog standard (loaded to the gills) with s/panel over cab + lightly loaded roof rack .. (high lift, awning, shovel, long rope + spare tyre case). Towing CT about 1000kg+.
Push hard on black 100-110 kph ... 16.4 l/100km (worst)
Take it easy on back roads 80-90 kph .... 13.5l/100 km (best)
Significant difference, but not too bad I suppose, given the all up load.
Also copped a tank full of dud fuel at Wilcannia![]()

After checking archives I decided the screaming fuel pump was due to crap in the lines.Originally Posted by spudboy

Interestingly enough the pump stopped complaining after enough "good" fuel had run through the system...on the way back.
So, at best guess, I reckon I may have had some constriction between pump and filter which caused it to go into overdrive ??
Perhaps the crud finally flowed through to the filter and cleared the prob ??
Due to change the filter soon (80K) but may do so prior.
