Treg coupling & weight distributing hitch
I know that it won't work off-road but has anyone had experience of using a Treg coupling with a Hayman Reese weight distributing hitch for on-road use ?
My problems are that the towball downweight is too high for the Defender (or at least I thought it was) and makes the headlights point skyward on the company Falcon Wagon, hence the need for a weight distributing hitch.
I contacted the HR technical support line today and it seems that it depends where the Treg is mounted on the trailer drawbar ie. if it is on the top surface it's OK but underneath it's not.
My concern is that the horizontal pivot point is moved back by 60mm compared to a conventional 50mm towball.
The Defender is rated in the handbook at 100Kg max towball download, HR technical support claim that this was uprated to 250Kg the Falcon is rated at 250Kg with the 2,500kg towpack fitted.
The next thing is how to select the load distributing hitch.....
HR are suggesting that it should match the max towball downweight of the vehicle. I would have thought that it could match the actual maximum downweight of the trailer ?
I have just taken delivery of a PS421 Coromal Silhouette which loaded up has a towball download of approx 190Kg but HR suggest the 250Kg hitch.
I will be speaking to one of their distributors to see if I can clarify the situation but any feedback would be welcome.

Re-checked the Hayman Reese website and found that the 200 & 300TDi is rated at 150Kg max towball download. The TD5 is rated at 250Kg
