Yep!
I did same on my D2.
When brother bought it, it has some horrible steelies on it, and forever losing the plastic nut caps that LR had for steel wheels.
Anyhow, 3 of the 5 wheels were buckled one quite severely, so I had plans to get some Aloys for it.
Steelies ran 245/75 16s BFG KO2s
The set of alloys I found came with General Grabbers .. 265/70 16's.
Total weight reduction from steels to alloys was about 50kgs on the weighbridge at work. More importantly is that it was easy to feel the lower weight of each alloy wheel when switching them over.
I have/had a set of nuts for the alloys .. but damned can't find them anywhere(they'll show up one day I guess) .. but in my rush to get the wobbly steelies off, I just bought a set of alloy wheel nuts off the net. Can't recall which mobe .. maybe the chaps up Newcastle way. All shiny and chrome(as they say in the movies).
Fitment is here and there tho.
Of the 20 that came, 2 fit the 27mm and 1 1/16th sockets perfectly
The other 18 are all a too tight fit, and gouge out the chrome caps. So much for looking new! .. not that I worry about cosmetics tho .. just strange that the odd one is thrown it that fits so nicely.
Can't be rust that causes this, they're brand spankers .. just 'manufacturing tolerances' I suppose.
Arthur.
All these discos are giving me a heart attack!
