    Engine - gearbox seal

Ok, i'll be doing an engine swap on my landy before too long and i'm getting what I need together. Swaping the holden out, and putting a landy 2.6 back in.

I've been advised to do the rear main seal, and i've found the kit in the four wheel drives catalouge (no 32), but for the life of me, I can't find the engine to gearbox seal. anybody?

Also, which ruddy clutch goes in a S3 ? contemplating replacing that while i've got everything out.

anything else I should do while i'm at it ?

    G'day Richard,
If I were doing this job I would replace most of the gaskets and all of the seals before the engine goes in.
This is what I would do; from 4wd's Melb cat No 31.
    1. Rear Main bearing O/seal >>>>>>> Q67(this will include the inner oil seal Q68)
    2. Side Cork seals x 2 >>>>>>>>>>> Q69.
    3. Sump Gasket >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Q117.
    4. Timing Case O/seal >>>>>>>>>>> Q65.
    CLUTCH Bitz.
    1. Sealing Ring for Flywheel cover (if O ring is still pliable/flexible don't replace but remember it is in a bit*h of a place but for $6.00!!!) >>C20.
    2. Driven Plate 9 1/2" >>>>>>>>>>>> C21.
    3. Pressure Plate 9 1/2" >>>>>>>>>>> C22.
    4. Check the Oilite bearing (Spiggot bush) in the Flywheel >>C18A...
This is only a guide but it's what I would be looking at replacing if it warranted same. You could check with your copy of the RPS and it will show the same items just with different numbers, and remember it's bloody easier to do this with engine on a stand rather than doing it from underneath the vehicle, anyway good luck with it cheers Dennis

numbers are the same in edition 32, price comes to $332.75 plus $100 deposit on the pressure plate. Not bad for the piece of mind I guess.

Next question, is there a gasket between the bell housing and the engine ?

    well that's pretty clear then

One less seal to buy. Probably more than I wanted to spend, but even I can see it's worth doing properly the 1st time

    Thanks for the tips
