    Brake and Clutch Pedal Bushes

    Hi Everyone,
I have just started restoring a Series II Traytop (minus the tray) and have removed both housings for the brake and clutch pedals. The pedals are very stiff and I am trying to remove the bushes to free things up. I have taken the pins out but cannot move the bushes at all.
Are they just a press fit or is there some trick with getting them out?
    Thanks,
    Russ

According to the "Green Bible", once the pins are removed, it's just a case of drifting them out.

Application of some gentle heat & pre-soaking with WD40 CRC etc may be beneficial before they will move.

They are supposed to be lubricated but it may have been years since that was done.

BTW, the bushes as such, will not move until you drift out the Pedal Shaft.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Russ
For better results than crc etc use brake fluid,it penetrates much better,no good on painted surfaces but for what you are doing perfect. Its the best on cables IE speedo cables,brake/clutch cables on motor/push bikes.
Once you discover its effectivness as a release agent you wont go back
