I think you will have to ask them!
I'm considering giving the 130 a major birthday and keeping it for another 300,000km or so; this birthday would include replacing the chassis. There are 2 UK mobs- Richards and Marsland- that I can find who offer replacement chassis, both galvanized. I'm wondering if anyone has used either of them and what the implications are for rego; as far as I am concerned it would be just another replacement part on the vehicle but is that how Vicroads would see it?
I think you will have to ask them!

Is it possible to get your chassis number stamped into the new chassis ?

I'd be tempted to keep VicRoads out of it if possible.
As loanrangie commented, see if you can get your chassis number stamped on the new chassis and remove that section from the old chassis so the number can't be re-used.
That way you 'just had the chassis galvanised' and VicRoads aren't involved.
I think if you involve them you will have to jump through lots of hoops and it will cost you money somewhere along the journey.
Check with whoever you decide to use.

I've emailed both the suppliers mentioned, might give vicroads a call but I don't expect much help from them. Like Colin, I'm inclined to keep them out of my way where possible.
Are you looking for a new one or just a replacement? There’s a mob called gentleman salvage in the UK that might also have it?
Swapping like for like I'd leave the authorities out for sure .

I sympathize with the view that one should avoid getting 'the authorities' involved, but doesn't that rather highlight a problem we have in this country. Which is that an extreme risk aversion everywhere, but especially in bureacracies, means that what should be a simple task (swapping in a chassis supplied by a reputable supplier and recording that in the government database(s)) is likely to become an expensive and time consuming excercise that results in people understandably avoiding dealing with the bureacracy. I honestly don't know what the solution is - I don't know how to legislate for common sense - but it is something that seems to be getting worse and worse!
Grumble ends!
Good luck with the chassis swap. We are fortunate to own vehilces where such options are available. [Or maybe we own them because of such options...].

I have several sets of letter and number stamps in various sizes. Hard to replicate the way the chassis number is inscribed on the puma chassis though. Not that anyone would know.
