Can't you just use a trolley jack under the sump to get to the welsh plug? I used a trolley jack under mine when I did the engine mounts and I don't think I could have gotten it much higher with a host unless I started undoing other things.

I went to a second hand shop and found an open-ended spanner ( $5.00) about the right size. Cut the thing in half and fixed it into a bit of water pipe that had been squashed.I can fit either end into the water pipe worked well.

a long spanner....open end....and a hammer is whats needed to remove the fan.....

and as for the engine hoist.....use the trolley jack as mentioned....but use a block of wood
on the jack to prevent damage to the sump.......it spreads the load and stops the jack
    from sinking into the sump.....
or you can jack up from under the bell housing....

but dont just rely on a jack........wedge a block of wood on the cross member or use an axle stand
for the engine to sit on so it cant fall onto your hand.....
your hand simply aint strong enough to hold up an engine....

Turns out the Hoist was only a 3 tonn bottle jack.
The Welsh plugs are done and the engine is back on its mounts.
I have been putting the other bits back but still havn't managed to free the broken vacume connector. At worst I can get it going but without the rear diff lock so its not to bad. Still a few hours to go in assembly
Father-in-law was horrified when he saw how much I had pulled it apart.

Time for an update and a rant.
Most of it is back together. All electrics are working again. Still can't get the vacume line connector won't come free
Radiator breather rubber connector is missing and so is the nuts on the radiator that the intercooler bolts into
I lost the nut for the bonnet release cable.
I think I might have a few bolts left over Maybe it will put it in a lighter weight class
I flushed the intercooler while it was out and not much crap came out so that is good.
Rain clouds are comming in so it might not be working today
