    I already have two boosters , a VH44 front and rear but even swapping sides so I have two leading shoes the brakes are pretty dismal.

    Forgot to ask. Do Disco rims fit as I have a few of those lying around. Or only Wolf?

    Yes if a Wolf works a Disco rim will fit. I ordered from Lrpartshop eBay 4 for $700

    I hope to run without a booster using a 7/8 MC , Being EV I have no vacuum , My '49 Dodge Ute has a similar setup and passed Engineering and RWC without a booster.

    Wolf rims fit over the calipers with room to spare. Def going to need arch extensions though. Ive ordered longer wheel studs but not sure I'll bother with them .

    Can't believe how fast the rims arrived, ordered Thursday, here today. I sprayed over the black with rattle can green, popped the tyre on easy enough ( my shoulder must be getting better - prob hurt tomorrow though) needed the butane trick to seat the beads .

    Now onward and finish the job.

    The original rims will however clear the rear discs. For the rear I'm using AU1 Falcon rotors and calipers . So My spare tyre on the bonnet will be an original, it's heavy enough to open as it is. If I get a flat on the front I'll have to put spare on rear and then fit the rear to the front.

    I am running 6.5 inch 130 rims with my 255-100-16 Michelin XZL,s
    Are the 130 rims the same offset as standard, with no hope of fitting?
    If not I better stick with what I have as I dont have much time (or money) to buy new wheels etc and swap them before I take off on my last big trip.

    No the 130 rims definitely won't fit , its not about the offset, the problem is in two areas the centre nave fouls as does the deeper well in the hoop. Only rims that will fit , as with most disc conversions are Wolf , Disco or White spokers etc.

    So I have not achieved what I set out to, but it's a cheaper and less complicated disc brake option , using simple flat caliper brackets. For those that already have a front disc kit and couldn't afford to mirror it on the rear , this rear option using Falcon parts is an option.

    Here's the rear brake setup. Falcon AU1 calipers and rotors. the brackets are 12mm thick recessed 7.3mm into the stub axle flange to get correct caliper alignment over the rotor .

    Original wheel fits over this if you use the brake drum centre plate as a spacer. Wolf rim fits without spacer .

    Now I know everything fits will strip it down , paint where necessary new seals in calipers . I might maker some oil catchers to redirect any leaking oil away from the brakes & to the ground.

    Falcon have the calipers forward of axle , I'll swap left for right ( so they can be bled) and mount behind axle. Brake hoses will be less likely to be damaged behind the axle.

    All buttoned up. Drives great, stops better than ever. Because its Electric I don't have any vacuum so hoped to get away without a booster & absolutely won't need one . First stop had a rear tyre chirping (regen braking on the rear too) Ive got a 20.63mm dual circuit master cylinder on a booster delete plate which gives a good travel vs feel . Will be really good when the brakes bed in.

    The rubber arch flares will take some getting used to . I didn't need extended studs with the Wolf rims as I made spacers from 4mm instead of the 6mm thick brake drum so the studs have 2mm of extra thread.

    How do your spaces go legally?

    I assume they sit were the brake drums were, so are they seen as OME?
    Or is it possible for them to be engineered as part of the conversion.

    Depends on the engineers interpretation, but I dont see problems with the bloke I use, especially as they are fixed with the original method csk bolts.

    The strictly illegal spacers are the ones that bolt on to the hub with a seperate set of studs that the wheels bolt to per photo.

    Did you happen to take some photographs of the 'legal' wheel spacer that you wrote about Goingbush? Plus some photographs of how the spacers were fitted? These spacers - to quote .... I didn't need extended studs with the Wolf rims as I made spacers from 4mm instead of the 6mm thick brake drum so the studs have 2mm of extra thread.

    In an earlier email 123Rover50 asked about fitting Discovery 1 wheel rims instead of the original Series ones. Would the Discovery 1 rims fit onto your brake system with or without the 4 mm spacers? Or did I misinterpret the ability for Discovery 1 rims to fit over the callipers and the Wolf rims - with the 4 mm spacer being the only option to fit?
