I found they seal fine, except for the centre O'ring that comes in the kit but as I said just swapped it for a good one out of my kit that seals properly.

The top & base seal perfectly fine, I took it apart to check it did after assembly & you can see that both sides of the filter contact the rubbers perfectly & indent slightly also.

A lot cheaper option than buying a whole assembly but personally I don't mind having a metal base & glass bowel to check the crap buildup on the 200tdi. Although I had to make a stone guard up to just incase in gets hit, which is one thing not to worry about with an all metal sedimentor setup. Im also going to carry the sedimentor base, a spare 100mm pre cut bolt & filter for the "just n-case" factor but it should be fine.

Reason I got the whole assembly was I thought it would rig up in the engine bay & the rear was metric but its the other way around, plus it was on special so fitted it to the rear.

when you do the conversion to CAV filters i assume the original sedimenter plastic umbrella is discarded-i do like the idea of incorporating the glass"see thru" base to gauge when it needs servicing but think I'll go for the glass one with metal base plate.
