Can Sikaflex 227 be used as an adhesive

I have a tube of this and although it is described as an automotive seam sealer can it be used as an adhesive to bond painted metal to painted metal?

According to the data sheet it can :

"Sikaflex®-227 is suitable for sealing, seam sealing, simple bonding as well as for vibration reduction and sound deadening measures in crash body repair and car body construction. Suitable substrates are metal primers and paint coatings (2-c systems), metals, painted plastics and plastics.

Seek manufacturer’s advice and perform tests on original substrates before using Sikaflex®-227 on materials prone to stress cracking. This product is suitable for experienced professional users only. Tests with actual substrates and conditions have to be performed to ensure adhesion and material compatibility."

    "Simple bonding".

I used some 291 as an adhesive/packing because it was all I had on hand and it has thus far not failed. That stuff sticks like **** to a blanket.

Most sealants can do a credible job as adhesives. It's a matter of "how critical is the bond?". If it fails is it doing to be annoying, expensive or dangerous?

The bond will only be, at best, as strong as the bond between the paint and metal.

You're only 'maybe' sticking paint to paint.

Is it being used in a shear or tension situation and is there mechanical (bolts, screws) involvement?
