Have a look at the "tire" & wheel fitment guide on discoweb.org
Usually you need to knock off an inch or so from the corner of the rear guards. Thats all it needs. Otherwise the tyres will do it for you.

Hi There
I am looking to put tyres on my Disco 1. It is getting a 2" lift.
Currently there are 235/70/16 on there. Want to go full muds BF but do not want to make any changes to the fender or the body.
Not sure if 245/75/16 or 255/70/16 will fit or must I go smaller like a 255/65/16 or 245/70/16. Bigger probable is not the way the go.
If any body can give me idee's it would be much appreciated.
Cheers

What size would you suggest?
I run 245/75 BFG muds and a 2" lift.
A minor trim was required at the rear to stop if fouling on full artic. ( just cut the folded in bit at the bottom off at 45 degrees you can't even see it)- because it is alloy you can easily do it with tin snips.
Still fouls a tiny little bit but I can live with it. The new model BFG muds have larger lugs on the side so a bit more trim may be needed.
The slightly bigger tyres give that little bit extra height to the diff centres and don't affect performance.
245/75/16s are a popular upgrade - useful increase without too many dramas. Its the width that gives bodywork grief. On mine, I went up to 235/85/16 which were ok with a 2" lift. Basically a Defender tyre, so it needed defender t/case gears & defender speedo drive to bring gearing back to spec. That worked quite well.

Thanks for that, did you go hard or soft suspension?
How about the Coopers, has anyone put them on?? How do you go about trimming? Front and back?
Not sure who you are asking but I went TJM's "heavy duty" kit so guess thst must equate to hard.Originally Posted by Niels
Most lift kits are a bit firmer to compensate for extra rollOriginally Posted by Niels
but you can mix & match to some extent. The best info source I know of for OME stuff is www.expeditionexchange.com. Some really good info there on OME springs & shocks.
