    do all fender roofs drum?

not being a fender owner very long (I only had it registered this week)
do all the roofs "drum" at hwy speeds? my does this "dong dong" drumming noise, if I push up on the roof it stops, is this normal?
my 110 roof definitely didn't do this??

The roof seams straight (no dents) but definitely needs some additional stiffening to stop the drumming

With all the gaps in a Fender you have probablly got a cat or a possum in the roof.

Must be something loose, mine does not do it, but having said that they are that noisy inside I may not here it.

While I'm not a regular Defender driver, I have noticed that since 2004 approx, the Defenders have come out with a ribbed roof panel which I would assume wouldn't resonate like yours.

BTW, you say you've just registered yours - is it a new Defender or a re-registration?

Yes Jase, It is quite normal for a fender. Although you have a potential problem if it doesn't 'dong dong' in time with the 'clatter clatter' of the oil burner under the bonnet and the 'whoop whoop' of the resonating air and road noise.

Hadn't noticed it in mine. Must be all the other noises getting in the way.

I consider mine more of a symphony. No distinct drumming from the roof though

    Hi Guys
yes I'm having a chuckle now yes there's plenty of noise (call it character) in the fender
It's so bloody loud the radio is useless until up pull up somewhere and say sh*t that's radio's loud
Having just registered the thing, and having a brand new engine in I'm trying to listen for odd noises that may point to things going astray but it's so loud I've go no hope.
anyway this one is definitely the roof, it's got no headlining (this obviously doesn't help with the noise level, but for some reason previous owner? who knows why) so I can put my hand on the roof and stop it? wondering if I can work out some sort of a roof console that I could use to brace the roof?

Oh and Scouse it's a re reg
    shes a 96 130 cab chassis
Now fitted with a HS2.8 cause the tdi gave up

one very cool noise is the HS turbo whine sound like a truck she even whines at the traffic lights if you just touch the throttle and it pulls like a train
