    2010 Defender remote fob

    Hi there

I have recently had someone lose my 2010 Defender remote fob on me. I'm having great difficulty finding a locksmith who can supply and program a replacement fob for me.

Does anyone have any recommendations for someone who can do this in the Sydney area? I'm currently in North Richmond.

Alternately, I am looking into buying my own and having someone program it for me. Can anyone tell me which frequency (315/433) the 2010 Australian model Defender uses?

    Cheers

as its a Defender TDCi 2.4 with the black key fob (plip) any independent Land Rover repairer can do it.
its the same setup as the previous model Defender TD5.
    433.
so just about any tool that does a Land Rover, even if it only lists upto Defender TD5, you can use that.

is there not plenty of indy Land Rover repairers in NSW/sydney?

Ah thanks heaps for that info! I wasn't thinking about Landy specialist mechanics having the equipment to do locksmithing on them also. Seems I've been barking up the wrong tree in my half a dozen plus calls to mobile locksmiths. Yep, surely there are plenty around Sydney (I'm from Newcastle and don't know who's around), and hopefully someone is willing to come to me as I'm currently locked out.

    Cheers

I doubt indies would have key cutting equipment never mind locksmithing, however they can programme a fob. If you don't have a spare key the door and ignition key barrels will pro'ly have to be changed, unless a LR dealer or Indy can provide a key based on the vin. Aren't Defenders easy to get into, I thought people just unbolted the door hinges to steal them?

in your first post you only mentioned the fob and nothing about losing the key?

*once you are in the Defender the simplest method (and likely the cheapest) will be to replace the ignition lock assembly

I was able to get a key cut to a code I got from LR for my D2. Biggest problem was proving ownership. I did that by showing rego and licence to a stealer, and then LR emailed me the code. This was after my so called indie lost all the keys.... but that's another story.
