    Topping up coolant.

I think the ( water cooled) oil cooler is leaking. car looses about a litre an hour?? ( I've only run it for an hour each day in this condition)
When cold in the morning the expansion tank is under a slight vacuum,
If yesterday is any indication it will take at least 1 litre to top up to halfway up the expansion tank, but yesterday I also got a low level coolant warning after 5 minutes running, the warning did go away..

    Start the car and fill?
    Fill when cold again?

Is the coolant leaking externally, that is you can see the leak?
If not it could mean it is leaking internally which is not good,i wouldn't be driving it.

A litre an hour could turn into instant emptying depending on from where it is leaking.

It may have the electronic level indicator?

But it should read OK i presume.

I hope 1 litre an hour of coolant is not going into the oil

The evidence is an oily water drip overnight..
plus the water amount needed to refill....

I reckon it had this oil cooler thing when I bought it.. an overnight oil drip, after a new gasket in Darwin I got no more low coolant level warnings or oil concerns untill it split a heater hose this year..

So I have some experience about how this thing ( IF I am right..)losses coolant..

Drove it another hour and a half to Christies Beach today,, temps are a lot lower in traffic than at 100kays....

God I HATE SA roads... they put everything that needs a manhole cover on the wheel tracks...

    No oil in the coolant?

    Check the oil level display.
