300TDi Rebuild - Cam Followers
Hey folks,
I have a new set of cam follower assemblies for a new 300tdi engine i am building but they don't seem to fit into the block.
Some new guides slide into the block easy whilst other new guides wont fit in the same holes.
It appears that the steel guides are cheap rubbish (ordered from paddockspares) and are not all machined the same size!
I have plenty of old genuine steel guides from old 300tdi engines but i would need new rollers and lifters as well, because i am fitting a new camshaft. I tried fitting the new rollers and lifters into an old genuine guide and they dont fit! So i guess even the lifters an rollers of these cheap ones are not machined to correct Land Rover Size?
Has anyone got any ideas of what to do? Can i just buy some lifters and rollers from somewhere else (turner engineering) and put them in old guides - or do the steel guides wear also?
I just checked out Turner Engineering and they sell the assembly which consists of a 'good used guide', and a new slide and roller...
So i guess if they reusing the guide with new rollers it must be ok?? If so, anyone know of anywhere else that sells quality lifters and rollers?
