Hi All,
there has been talk of it but the nuts and bolts is what I wish to know,
Apart from the increase in noise; is removing the centre muffler and replacing with a straight through piece on a TD5 beneficial???????? as far as power increase goes or responciveness of throttle (less Turbo Lag)????
I dont really want more noise but if there is a power gain I will do it.
Particually with an ECU and intercooler upgrade ??????
Thanks
Piddler

I have a manual TD5 D2 which has a BD remapped ECU and I removed the muffler and resonator.......much more noise (too much noise IMO) but yes it has improved the turbo spool up slightly. It is very slightly though but I do notice it and this is enough for me to put up with the noise. Perhaps next year, I will look at re-doing the exhaust and trying to quieten it down at the same time.
Cheap way to improve the spool up though, cost me $50 for an exhaust shop to chop out the muffler and weld in a pipe.
I've done it. If you look for it, the turbo spools up very marginally quicker, but its just noiser really and not really a power gain. Sounds cool, and I've had the odd comment from others.
This all said, I am considering refitting another muffler back in.
Cheers

That surprises me considering the shape and sheer size of the thing you'd think it would be a tad restrictiveOriginally Posted by Slunnie
