i put an adaptor on my wastegate line....
then ran it to the dash and went the Bling Autometer........

I have read the threads but fail to see the reason, why on an unadjustble turbo do you need to see the pressure when there is nought you can do about it if it falls short or exceeds factory settings As I'm turbo ignorant it is a fair question. It is a boost gauge not an adjuster is it not?
After seeing the turbos on other vehicles my turbo's on the two 300's I own look like toy addons so I haven't paid much heed to them. But know I am getting interested and require knowledge![]()

mostly just to keep an eye on the boost pressure and make sure it is operating in appropriate parameters. Also a boost pressure check is part of regular servicing and as I do my own servicing is just as easy to install a full time gauge. Did the same on my tdi Disco. I am fairly sure the boost settings can be adjusted, but I am not sure if you would want to. The little black box I have them mounted in is OK but a little deep so will keep an eye out for a narrower one. Have put in 2 x Voltmeters and a boost gauge. Shame the ignitions are not like the old type where you can feed another input and output, means the voltmeter for the deep cycle battery is always reading, but should not be a drama as the current draw is only tiny. Next to add a temp gauge, oil pressure and a tacho. Damn labrynth firewalls on the Fender make putting through anything a real challenge. At the top of the firewall there seems to be 3 seperate channels that you need to weave through. Would be nice to at least have one accessible grommet behingd the top of the dash. There are some lower down but would add another foot or so to run length and require additional tubing or wiring as the case may be. The Disco was so much easier to get stuff through the firewall. Then in the Fender there is that great lug of an air con box hanging off the fire wall making access to the turbo side of the motor through the firewall that much more difficult.

I just tee'd into the vacuum line. Bruce Davis has checked boost readings on my guage and stated that they are pretty accurate - certainly accurate enough to use as a driving aid. Dont be fooled by the expensive guages. First I bought an autometer guage that gave me problems which I replaced with a cheaper Speco guage which has worked well - bought this off internet for bugger all.
But the turbo pressure is adjustable!Originally Posted by CraigE
The wastegate is on an adjustable arm, allowing more or less boost (max) by adjustment of the arm.

Dam beat me to it!But the turbo pressure is adjustable!

Just look at the waste gate actuator and you will see a locknut and a knurled device that rotates - you turn this one way or the other and the boost goes up and down.
I used the same method as most others, plumbing into the existing feed to the FIP & wastegate. I just drilled the factory brass elbow and silver soldered in the fitting for the gauge, gives it an almost factory look.
I went for the VDO gauge, also to try to keep a factory look, sort of.
