Sorry don't have any info, but wanted to ask, how many KM"S its done. Just curious. As Have heard of engines 300,000km + and still don't need rebuilding. Was it mistreated

Hi Grover its only done 166000 klm but i have a sticky valve so while the heads are off I thought I might put new rings and bearings not that much more work.

Paul if the bores are not worn and the comp is ok I would leave it alone as it will do 300k plus if treated right, maybe do bigend bearings and timing chain lifters and cam.
My 82 rebuilt 3.5/3.9 motor running holden pistons is up to 420k and still ok.Cam is worn but it still goes well.
My 89 3.5 rangie is up to 340k and the heads and cam lifters etc were done at 230k.
But to answer your question no its not hard if everything is done right.
I have just made a 4.2 from a rebored 3.5 and I had problems with the reconditioners and silly things that were only viable with the 4.2 stroker kit I fitted, like bearings too tight and having to grind away parts of the block and having to panelbeat the sump so the rods did not hit etc etc. The crank I used has a longer stroke than the 4.6!

But after 7 weekends its all up and running. Its in my sons rangie

Brad - Where did you source the stroker kit? I have access to a 3.5 EFI engine in need of a rebuild (overheated) and I am interested in doing a stroker to replace my 200 000km + 3.5 that I am running now.

    Hello John
Bought the stroker kit off Trav (aquarangie) some months back. I think it came from Timberwolf.
However I have found out that you can still buy this kit from performance industries. This I know because one of the pistons was damaged and I had to buy a new one. They are 20 thou over the standard bore.
I dont know how much they are as discovery autos in perth got me the piston and told me the kit is still available.
